reqvam: “I think winning a regional tournament carries special value.”

Hearthstone players had probably the toughest schedule out of all competitors in the A1 Adria League this season. Six open qualifiers with over 40 signed up players for each one. Qualifiers played every couple of days and only the 8 of the best players with the highest amount of points advancing to the playoffs.

One player separated himself above the rest during the qualifiers – Franjo “reqvam” Blažević won two of the six qualifiers and placed in Top 4 in two others. He kept the good form going into the playoffs and won the whole thing in the end. He stayed true to his Mage deck all the way, and it didn’t disappoint him. We talked to reqvam after his big win.


1. What were your expectations heading into the A1 Adria League Season 3?

reqvam: “My expectations were high, to begin with. I entered the season with the goal of achieving a top 8 finish in points – I believed I could be consistent throughout the Qualifiers and achieve good overall results. The two wins were the icing on the cake and a great reward for solid play throughout the season.”

2. Why did you pick Conjurer Mage deck? Was that decision based on what are the other players bringing or just your preference?

reqvam: “The main reason for picking this Mage deck was plain and simple – I think it’s the best deck for the format. The deck just doesn’t have weaknesses that are exploitable enough to make it worthwhile for opponents to play “counters” decks such as OTK Paladin or Aggro Overload Shaman. On top of that, looking at the field in the Qualifiers (25% Warrior, 15-20% Rogue) the deck was simply the correct choice (a favored Warrior matchup, and a 50-50 Rogue matchup where I could also rely on outplay potential).”

“As far as the Playoffs were concerned, I took a look at the decks that other players played in previous qualifiers, and made the logical choice of playing Mage. Naturally, the fact that this Mage deck is the only deck I enjoy playing at the moment was an added benefit. But, of course, had I thought there was a better choice than Mage, I would not have hesitated in picking another class.”

3. What did you think of your competition? Were you hoping to avoid some of the decks because of the bad match-up or maybe even players?

reqvam: “The competition was good, there were a lot of good players in this year’s Playoffs. The ones I would single out are definitely LemyBiB and uberkaiser. I expected the three of us to be vying for the top 3 spots and it turned out just like that.”

“LemyBiB and I crossed paths in this season a total of 5 times, and the games were very close every time, so I wasn’t surprised at all to be facing him in the Finals. I would say he was the toughest opponent to beat. As far as dodging bad matchups is concerned, I wasn’t too worried about any decks because I didn’t find it likely to run into decks like OTK Paladin or Aggro Overload Shaman. Even then, I would say the matchups are at worst a 45% for Mage, and I was willing to take those odds.”

4. What does winning the A1 Adria League S3 mean to you?

reqvam: “Winning Season 3 of the A1 Adria League certainly means a great deal to me. I think winning a regional tournament carries special value, and when you add on the fact that it’s the biggest tournament I’ve won so far, that makes it all the sweeter.”

5. What’s next for you? Where can we see you competing in the near future?

reqvam: “The next bigger tournaments I will be participating in are Season 4 of the A1 Adria League and after that, I will be competing in Masters Tour Bucharest in October for which I qualified at the start of this month!”

6. So we’ll see you in the next season of A1 Adria League as well?

reqvam: “Of course! Hopefully, I’ll be able to defend the title!”

Top 8 Hearthstone players enter the playoffs, but only one will be crowned the Season 3 champion

The competition was fierce the cups tough but we have finally arrived at the stage where only the best 8 in the region remain!

LET US INTRODUCE OUR TOP 8 CONTENDERS FOR HEARTHSTONE PLAYOFFS

The first contender on our list is Franjo “Reqvam” Blažević, he managed to win not one but two of the 6 open cups, while also playing both times vs. LemyBiB and overcoming him the grand finals. Those two wins solidified his place on the leaderboard as the favorite of this season. Will he manage to stay on top faced with the other 7 players, the only thing left to do is watch and find out!

Miloš “LemyBiB” Milovanović who managed to get to the 2nd place not once not twice but 3 times with his trusty rogue (oh the irony). Does he have a score to settle with the guys who denied him the first place, oh yes he has!

Milan “Emerys” Pavičić, he was the one to open the Tournament as a whole since he managed to win the first open cup and also managed to almost win the 5th open cup as well where he finished 2nd which firmly secured his spot in the top 8 playoffs.

Nino “CG MagicZYYZA” Žižanovic our 4th contender for the title, a familiar face he was casting the last season grand finals in Zagreb, and he is a commendable foe as well not someone you should underestimate, he won the 5th open cup.

Saša “SaleSarma” Vrcelj and his steadfast warrior managed to win the 4th open qualifier and get their spot in the top 8 in the region, well deserved, the audience will be stuffed while watching him play, pun intended!

Uberkaiser a well-known player and streamer in the region, won several national tournaments, a well-experienced player with a lot up his sleeve, he didn’t manage to win any open cups but that won’t stop him from gunning at the first place in the playoffs!

Aleksandar “Wolf” Dimitrijević some would call him the bravest of all of the contenders the only one with a Murloc shaman deck, proving everyone that Mglrmglmglmg, well you get the point.

And last but not least Boris “D0nkey” Babić our last member of the elite 8, he managed to win the 2nd open cup, with his mech hunter, watch out here comes the boom!

Nikola: “I didn’t think at first that I would win the whole thing.”

Oh boy and what an end it was, we had an awesome playoff full of excitement and great matches, but like all good things, it had to come to an end. We are proud to announce the winners of the CR Season 3.

The first place was won by Nikola, the 2nd place was taken by his teammate Tocilovac, the third place was ConeKorleone and the 4th was taken by destroyer.

In order to get more insight about our champion we asked him some questions about what separated him from the rest and contributed to him winning the third season, enjoy!

1. What did you expect before the Playoffs? Did you think you would win the whole thing?

Nikola: “I imagined that I would be somewhere at the top, but I didn’t think at first that I would win the whole thing.”



2. What do you think separated you from the rest of the players and made the most difference in your opinion?

Nikola: “I do not think there are any major differences, they are all outstanding players. The main distinction, in my opinion, might have been, that I focused on what sort of decks they are playing and tried to counter them, which turned out to be the right choice.”


3. Now that you have proven that you are the best in the Adria region, what are the next goals?

Nikola: “My next goals are first of all winning the A1 Adria in Zagreb and to be a part of some of the international leagues like the “Connect to Play” (CTP) and “Super Liga Orange” (SLO)”


4. You and Tocilovac seem to be always in the top of the tournaments you play in. Has it formed some sort of rivalry where you motivated each to be better or is it more a team effort where you help each other to become the best versions of yourselves?

Nikola: “I see Tocilovac as a friend, rival, and a person that motivates me a lot. We train together quite frequently, which pushes us both to become the best versions of ourselves, so yeah all of the mentioned.”


5. Would you like to add something?

Nikola: “I would like to thank everyone who supports me, my Qlash team and my coaches who also contribute quite a lot to my accomplishments.”

Hearthstone Season 3 – Last but certainly not the least!

You thought we would let you down, jokes on you! We had a small setback but the season just wouldn’t be complete without Hearthstone! We are overjoyed to announce the last addition to the season, Hearthstone is here!

Last year Luka “Vulee” Vulović managed to overcome all of his opponents and earn the Title of Champion. Will you be the next one, do you have what it takes to challenge everyone and come out on top? Sign Up and show everyone what you are made of!

Who is eligible to compete?
Everyone is welcome to sign up for the tournament as long as they are coming from the Adria region. And one more Important thing signing up for the Tournament is Completely Free, therefore, what are you waiting for?

How do you qualify for the league and where can I sign up?

The 3rd season will work a bit similar to the last season, which means that there will be 6 open qualifiers in June and July, players will be gathering points by competing in them and the Top 8 players of all the open cups will qualify for the Playoff stage. The Cups will be played on the ESL platform as last year. To clarify a bit here are the Cups.

How will the point system work for the open qualifiers?

The point system will be the same as last years, for those who didn’t compete last year here is the breakdown of it.

On each Open qualifiers Cup, you will be earning points depending on the round you managed to reach, so:

1st Place – 100 points and 20 Euros (Sounds good doesn’t it)
2nd Place – 75 Points
3rd Place – 60 Points
4th Place – 45 Points
5th-8th Place – 25 Points
9th-16th – 15 Points
17th-32th – 10 Points
33th – 64th – 5 Points
65th – 128th – 3 Points
129th – 256th – 1 Point

After all of the 6 Open Cups in June and July, the top 8 players with the most cumulative points will advance to the Playoff stage. The playoffs will be after the open Cups and the date will be determined soon. For those of you who are wondering yes if you won the 1st place on of the Open Cups, you are allowed to play the next one as well for the 100 points and for that sweet prize of 20 euros.

What will be the format of the Cups?

The format of the Season 3 will be “Specialist” which is the new mod that came out this year, where the player has to submit 3 decks of the same class. Which means that between the Primary deck (The deck which you must play your first game) only 5 cards can differ in your Secondary and Tertiary version of the deck. “This means a world to me and my team” – Sener “SENER1” Mahmuti

The Dota 2 playoffs put a high standard for the Season 3 of the League regarding the quality of the matches. The week after CS:GO didn’t disappoint either. In all quarterfinal matches, both teams managed to get to double digits. As the playoffs continued better teams started to prove their worth.

TheOverPowered was knocked to the lower bracket by uNiQUE that secured the spot in the Grand Finals. But the guys from theOP decided they want a rematch so they went on and win a close series against TRTRR in the Lower Bracket finals. Rematch in the Grand Finals between theOP and uNiQUE also went the distance and we saw all three maps, but in the end, uNiQUE managed to come out on top!

We talked to the captain of the team uNiQUE Sener “SENER1” Mahmuti about their recent success in the A1 Adria League.

  1. What did you expect before the playoffs? Did you think you can win the whole thing, and who you considered to be the toughest opponent?

SNER1: “There were good teams in playoffs. We didn’t underestimate any of them, and yes we thought we would win. We know we have a lot of potential. The toughest opponent proved to be theOverPowered, also a great team.”

2. You managed to qualify for the next season of A1 Adria League featuring the 10.000 euros prize pool. What does that mean to you and your team?

SENER1: “It means a world to me and my team that we have chances to prove ourselves even more. It is a great opportunity for us.”

3. What can we expect out of uNiQUE? Any competitions in the near future?

SENER1: “Right now we don’t have any competitions going on but we will start practicing soon, fixing some of our mistakes, etc.”

4. Anything you would like to share with your fans and the general public?

SENER1: “We would like to thank the fans who were cheering and supporting us till now, its quite an honor for us.”

We’ll be crowning our CS:GO champions of the A1 Adria League this weekend for the third time in a row. Two times champions – Cr4zy (ex. Valiance) are now competing on the much higher level, and therefore other teams are getting the new opportunities.

The playoff stage will be played as a series of best of ones, where the lower bracket finals will be best of three and the Grand Finals best of three as well.

The action will be split into two days:

MEET THE 8 REGIONAL TEAMS THAT WILL COMPETE IN THE PLAYOFFS AND GIVE THEM ALL A WARM WELCOME.

TRTRR vs. uNiQUE

uNiQUE are heading into this match as clear favorites. The team has had a lot of success in recent times and surely they will not miss a chance to continue to do so. The core of the team SENER1, sinnopsyy, and juanflatroo have been playing together for some time now. They were the only unbeaten team in the online group stage of the CSadria Clan Championship powered by A1 but didn’t attend the LAN finals due to the visa issues. Now they have the second chance to prove they are the top dogs in the region. Their opponents on the other hand, North Macedonian team TRTRR managed got to go to the before mentioned LAN finals because of the uNiQUE not attending. They’ve put up a strong performance but finished in the 3rd/4th in the end.

INVICTUS vs. to jeste

In the 3rd season, we have only one Serbian team in the playoffs for the first time in the history of the League, and it’s the team to jeste. But sure it’s an interesting one. We have the season 1 champion DJOKSiCK playing with other well-known players in the region like andr1x, juricM, dav, SHEV, and Salted. Some of them have already played in the finals of the A1 Adria League, in order to do so again, they’ll have to beat INVICTUS. The new and upcoming team from Montenegro played really well in the qualifiers One thing we do know about them is that they like to play CSadria Retakes public servers. The word going around is that they are really strong, but they’ll have to show it over the weekend against a very experienced team.

Vilay Black vs. Screamstars

Only Croatian team in the playoffs of the A1 Adria League will be facing Vilay Black, another team coming from North Macedonia. Screamstars were on the verge of the breakthrough on many occasions in the region, and they made it to the Season 3 playoffs. They’ll have to fill out the shoes of the Locastic Esports, team that represented Croatia really well last season. Vilay Black has been on the scene for some time now with several lineup changes. They’re always here, managing to qualify for the most regional tournaments and leagues, so seeing them in the top 8 of this season shouldn’t be a surprise.

Mischievous vs. TheOverPowerd (to be Vilay Esports)

Mischievous being the third team from North Macedonia means that this year we have the most representatives coming from that country. They’ve also been around for some time, we had to chance to watch their matches in several regional competitions, but they are struggling to advance to top 4. TheOverPowered guys recently found a new organization, but because of the rules, they’ll have to play under the tag they qualified. Always nice to see prominent players in the region like saveeey, brky and bustem doing well and thriving once again. But we’ll have to wait and see do they have what it takes to make it all the way to the finals.

Champion of the A1 Adria League to get a chance to join MNTDEW League

Both ESL SEC and A1 Adria League are entering playoff stage in the upcoming days. The best regional teams will be battling it out for the prize money, prestige titles, and opportunities to advance further in the competitions.

But, before we head into the playoffs, we have important news to share with all of you. ESL SEC and A1 Adria League are proud to announce the Pre-Climber Cup, the new competition which will be the stepping stone between ESL SEC and A1 Adria League and ESEA Premier Relegations, also known as the MTNDEW League.

The Pre-Climber Cup

The new competition will consist out of four teams – Top 3 finishers from the ESL SEC, and the A1 Adria League Season 3 champions. They will fight in the double-elimination bracket across the span of 2 days for a spot that leads to the Climber Cup. Winner of the ESL SEC Season IX will get the first seed, while the second one will go to the best team in the A1 Adria League. That means that they will face the 2nd best team in the ESL SEC in the first match of the Pre-Climber Cup. The competition will be held during the last week of June and you’ll be able to follow all the actions on the Croatian and English streams.

The Climber Cup

Team that comes out on top in the Pre-Climber Cup will advance to the Climber Cup, that will take place right before the Relegations. The Climber Cup leads its Top 4 teams to the ESEA Premier Relegations, also known as the MTNDEW League. Each European country running an ESL National Championship will be represented at the Climber Cup.

A1 Adria League Season 3 playoffs are scheduled on the 15th and 16th of June, with 8 teams competing in the double-eliminations bracket. While the playoffs for the ESL SEC will be held on the 17th and 20th of the June.

With the new competition we are hoping to bring even more structure to the regional CS:GO scene, and give the teams more opportunities to advance in the ESL competition system.

The playoff stage was filled with thrilling moments and we enjoyed watching every match, now we take a bit of time to ask the captain of the winning team to share his thoughts about the tournament the region as a whole and their future plans, here are some that we asked him.

1. How did you come to the decision to form a new team before the start of the competition? One former Elements Pro Gaming (EPG) decided to play for LvLUP, while you, Mitch and Swiftending decided to form a new team for the tournament.

Dnz: “I’m not 100% sure, but I think I was talking to Damir (Mitch) and he told me that there would be an online tournament with a decent prizepool and that there was also a chance to go to the LAN finals, and that we could play it for fun and win some prizes if possible :D.”

“I suggested dzy and Jajkan as a duo because I play WESG and WCG, and the fifth was supposed to be our former EPG coach g0g1, who was not able to play because he was on a LAN final in Greece during the playoffs.”

“Then we immediately remembered that we could call Swiftending, (I would like to mention that there is no bad blood between any former EPG players, but it’s simply more exciting, at least for me to play with other players (as much as possible), so we made this decision rather than to have a stack of former 5 EPG players, Swift, to our delight, agreed and we played the tournament and had a great time and eventually won.”

How did you perceive the other teams, did you expect such opponents or did you think it would be easier or harder? The Last Jedis (TLJ) defeated you in the Bo1 in the upper bracket, which was a surprise for many.

Dnz: “We honestly thought that we would win most of the games without much effort, but some teams have proven us wrong, and they showed that with practice and a good grind that they were no easy match.”

“I think that the TLJ team played phenomenally and they made a lot of problems for us, they came really close to winning the whole thing, I have nothing but praises for them, I hope that they continue practicing if their goal is to succeed in Dota not just in the Balkan region but on the European scene as well.”

Do you think that Dota 2 has potential in the A1 Adria League and the region in general? Regional competitions in Dota are much less seldom than in some other games.

Dnz: “I do not know what to say about Dota 2 in the Balkans, because the last time there was a” big “Online Tournament with a LAN finals (EBL), the challenge was kinda slim and we with EPG won all the games more or less as routine and (in all fairness it was a stronger and more serious team), but there were a lot of the same players, some of whom progressed fairly and some remained on the same level.”

“I think the ego is a big factor hindering the Balkan scene (as many old school players would say), and unfortunately it is true, because when I see how the players relate to all of this I feel kinda sad, because there is no healthy competition, which would benefit all the players in the region (While you play against each other you also learn from each other and thus become better). “

“A big factor in all of this is that quite a few of these guys have real life obligations, so they can not go for a pro Dota player career, which is quite understandable because Dota is such a complex game and it requires a tremendous amount of time to invest in it. (I think that it is even the most complex Esport game). There are plenty of these factors, and I’m also aware that investors are not that attracted to invest in Dota tournaments in the Balkans, but again I think if they do more and make more tournaments, that there would be more stable Teams and that the quality of the games would increase.”

You have earned a place in the group stage of the fourth season. Will the team have the same lineup or what are your plans for the future?

Dnz: “I think the lineup won’t change for the next season, but you never know, for example, Mitch can decide to go to he’s destined team LvLup and perform the transfer of the year. Or if he would rather win he will decide to stay with us, a little bit of trash talk never hurt anyone :D.”

As for the plans I do not know yet, the only left things are the open/closed qualifications for TI, and the next DPC season should be more forgiving towards tier 3 / 4 players starts from September, so we are not sure about our plans yet :(.”

Would you like to add something?

Dnz: “A big shoutout to everyone in the Adria Inhouse League and I would like to praise Bartol “Rebi” Rebernjak, who is giving it his best to make an Inhouse League (with a prizepool), trying to create a competitive atmosphere for Dota players from the Balkans who are fed up with ranked games and would like to learn more about Dota, because it is definitely not easy to make something and to please everyone while also encouraging everyone to play, but I think it’s one of the steps in the right direction in order to provide a good breeding ground for good Dota players from all over the Balkans. “

Mystique V.S The last Jedis

The first match of the playoffs is Mystique, the first seed of the first open qualifier, they are a full Macedonian team. Their Captain is DaRio and the other team member are HariS-, Stojkov, zipzap, and sikki. Which is the same lineup they used for the EBL 2018 tournament where they, unfortunately, didn’t reach the LAN finals. And their opponent “The last Jedis” which is the 4th seed from the second qualifiers. We wish them the best of luck!

Tim123 V.S Mesano Meso

The second match of the playoff stage is a mostly Croatian team which are considered as the favorite of the tournament. They are led by dnz and the team’s main roster consistest of: Mitch, Swiftending, Jajkan and dzy. The team is has quite a few seasoned veterans Dnz, Mitch and Swiftending, while dnz is widely believed to be the best support player in the Adria region his most recent international success was a brief period of being a part of the Winstrike Team where he qualified for the “OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 CIS”. On the other hand, Mitch thought by many to be the best Offlaner in the region, he was a part of Fnatic way back in 2012 together with some familiar faces from the LvL UP team and again together in Elements Pro Gaming – Probably one of the best Mix teams from the Balkans to date. Swiftending the only Serbian member of the team who was also a part of the Elements Pro Gaming rooster, he is regarded to be one of the best Carries in the Adriatic region.

On the other hand, we have “Mesano Meso” a mostly Serbian team which is led by BDR and the other team members include: doGGfatherr, Punisher, Ignitables, and Kaznitelj. They will be facing the tournament favorite in their first match, will they rise up to the challenge? Nothing is written down in stone yet, therefore, come and watch the games and cheer them on!

LvL UP V.S XDS

One of the most recognized team not just in Serbia but in the region as well, let’s give it up for LvL Up they are led by none other than Buktop and the main rooster is as follow: PWN, kole, ComeWithMe and Boranija. LvL UP is one of the oldest teams in the region when it comes to Dota 2. They lost in the first qualifiers to Tim123 and we can’t wait to watch the rematch between these two teams, however, they will first have to reach the Upper Finals or the Grand Finals in order for that to happen since they are on opposite sides of the bracket. Buktop is no stranger to being a team captain he led the mYinsanity team back in 2014, and afterward, he formed the now known team LvL UP where he still leads his fellow teammates into tournaments!

Their first opponent will be “XDS” another Serbian team at the helm of their team stands Alexxo followed by his teammates: Stormplayz, Stephan, WTS and kAitorA. They managed to qualify in the first open qualifier by defeating “Squatting Slavs” and “Beshtiya” they begin the playoff stage with a trial by fire!

Marko+4 V.S Squatting Slavs

Marko+4 is a Croatian the leader of the team is Rebi and the team consist of: shpura, TheBlackOni, Deimos, and FarmWithMe. Maybe one of the less known teams but underestimate them and you will regret it!
They will face off in their first match v.s Squatting Slavs which is the most nationally mixed team of the bunch. The main Squatter of the team is Stephen followed by his trusty Squatting enthusiasts: Wingblade, Bokeee, QuickOne, and Jieang. An impressive run and some surprises in the second CS:GO qualifier

Once again CS:GO teams proved that CS:GO is one of the hottest esports in the region. Out of the 25 teams that have signed up for the second qualifier, after a tough competition, only four made it to the playoffs of the A1 Adria League Season 3.

We saw very interesting matches from the start of Ro32. Screamstars had to battle their way through the whole bracket to earn their spot in the semifinals and the playoffs. They started with a win after overtime against team MATE, then defeat Croatian mix Nema Labavo, and just after beating the Dinosaurusi they made it to the final four. Really impressive run by the Croatian side.

uNiQUE, for example, had a much easier path, defeating another Croatian mix to secure their playoffs spot. But the team has recently proven to be one of the best in the region by getting through the online stage of CSadria Clan Championship without a single loss.

On the other side of the bracket, INVICTUS was convincing in their matches, beating Dual Desetkas and INRAGE. Just as Mischievous, the team from North Macedonia, that won 16-2 and after that 2-0 to make the playoffs.

For the first time in the history of the League, we will crown the new champions! Valiance&CO chose not to compete in the Season 3 and other teams got an opportunity not just to win a lot of money, but also to ensure they will compete in the fourth season of the A1 Adria League.

CS:GO playoffs will be played on 15th and 16th of June, and both days will be streamed on the official A1 Adria League channels. Prize pool distribution as it follows:
