Weekly Recap #1: ASN Dominate A1SeC Rocket League Playoffs

The A1 Student eChallenge Rocket League competition delivered another weekend of university rivalries, decisive group-stage performances and an exciting playoff run. ASN emerged as the standout team of the tournament, going undefeated in the group stage before defeating Računarci in both the upper-bracket final and the grand final to secure the championship.

Recap: Group A

ASN immediately established themselves as the team to beat, winning all three group-stage matches to finish with a perfect 3-0 record. Their dominant performances made them clear favourites heading into the playoffs, with Striker leading the way as the group’s top scorer.

Meanwhile, KJT struggled to keep up with the competition. Despite scoring twice during the group stage, they failed to win a game and finished fourth.

The battle for the remaining playoff spot was much closer, as Gol po Gol and Kaos u Kuhinji finished level in MMR. Their head-to-head clash went all the way to a fifth game and overtime, where Gol po Gol capitalised on a late mistake from Kaos to secure the decisive victory.

Perke stood out for Gol po Gol, finishing as the team’s top scorer despite having the lowest MMR among its players and helping his team advance to the playoffs.

Recap: Group B

Računarci opened their group campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over TVZ2, with the skill gap between the teams evident throughout the series.

TVZ also swept FSB 3-0, although the opening games were far more competitive. FSB struck first in the opening game, only for TVZ to respond with two late goals to turn the result around. The second game went to overtime, where another costly mistake allowed TVZ to take the win. The final game was much more one-sided, ending 7-0.

Računarci then defeated FSB 3-0 to continue their strong run. The second game delivered one of the day’s most dramatic moments, as zvazy scored with just one second remaining, dealing a major blow to FSB’s hopes.

TVZ later secured another 3-0 sweep against TVZ2, but their toughest test was still to come. Računarci proved too strong in their final group match against TVZ, overcoming a brief scare in the second game to win the series 3-0.

With both ASN and Računarci looking dominant, the stage was set for an exciting playoff showdown.

Playoffs: ASN and Računarci Rise Above the Rest

The playoffs largely followed expectations, with the strongest teams advancing through the bracket. ASN maintained their dominant form throughout the tournament, while Računarci established themselves as their main challengers.

TVZ proved to be the dark horse of the competition, earning third place and winning over the audience with CroKiki’s entertaining car choices. Their run added an extra dose of personality to the tournament, even as the favourites continued to progress.

Gol po Gol also had reason to celebrate. After fighting their way into the playoffs through a tense group-stage decider, they managed to score a goal in the knockout stage, marking a small but memorable achievement in an otherwise difficult run.

ASN Defeat Računarci to Claim the Title

The tournament’s defining rivalry was between ASN and Računarci. The two sides met in the upper-bracket final, producing some of the most memorable gameplay of the event, before meeting again in the grand final.

ASN proved superior on both occasions, defeating Računarci in the upper bracket before repeating the result in the final to lift the trophy.

Their consistency from the group stage through the playoffs confirmed their status as the tournament’s strongest team. With a perfect group-stage record and two decisive victories over their closest rivals, ASN finished the competition as deserved champions.
