The seventh season of the A1 Student eChallenge officially began this week, with Rocket League opening the competition. As tradition continues, the season started with two open qualifiers, where student teams claimed their place in the next stage.
Six teams secured their spot in the group stage, setting the tone for what promises to be a highly competitive Rocket League tournament.
Group stage set with six teams
The qualified teams have been divided into two groups of three, where they will compete in a round robin format. The group stage matches are scheduled for next weekend, with Group A playing on Friday and Group B on Saturday.
From there, the top teams will advance to the playoffs on Sunday, where four teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket (BO5), culminating in a BO7 grand final.

Group A overview
FSB Esport enter the competition with a fresh roster featuring stos19, NoisNette and LoWJanXez, supported by coach zeka. As one of the new lineups this season, they will be looking to make an immediate impact.
Joining them is 2 inženjera 1 šumar (2I1Š), a mix of players with experience across different universities. eXqz and swizz previously played for FERIT, while alpine represented Algebra, making this an interesting roster with proven individual quality.
The group is completed by TVZ, a team that has largely stayed together from last season. With crokiki, Dopamine and vibez returning, and zmija joining as a substitute, TVZ will rely on their existing synergy to push through the group.

Group B overview
In Group B, FANTOMI arrive as one of the new teams this season, featuring Bajo Medo, outFurz and Mali Pero. With no prior A1SeC history together, they will aim to surprise more established opponents.
On the other hand, FER once again field their familiar lineup of Dred, Striker and Nekko. This roster brings both experience and consistency, making them one of the key teams to watch.
The group is rounded out by DPZ, consisting of Pechnica, Zuki and Dunge. The trio previously competed under the name “Prva ekipa FER-a”, meaning they already have experience playing together at this level.

A legend continues: Dred’s legacy
One of the standout names is Matija “Dred” Vandek, a FER student who has been part of the A1 Student eChallenge since Season 1. Impressively, Dred has won every single season so far, making him one of the most dominant players in the history of the competition.
As Season 7 begins, all eyes will once again be on him and his team to see if that incredible streak can continue.

What’s next
With the qualifiers complete, the focus now shifts to the group stage and playoffs, where the competition will intensify even further. The stage is set. The teams are ready. Now it’s time to see who will rise.
